Yamazaki Kento to lead TBS Sunday Theatre drama series “Atom no Ko” (Children of Atom)

It’s official. Yamazaki Kento will lead the next TBS Sunday Theatre drama series “Atom no Ko” (Children of Atom) which will start broadcasting in October every Sunday at 9pm on TBS. This will be his first regular drama appearance on Japanese TV since Good Doctor in 2018. This will also be his first TBS Sunday Theatre appearance since Rikuoh in 2017.

Kento plays Azumi Nayuta, a young genius game developer and an “indie” who creates games independently and not via big corporations or distributors. He works under the name of “John Doe” and as nobody knows his true face, he’s known as “the Banksy of the gaming industry”. Due to an incident, he quits the industry and lives a quiet live.

Meanwhile, a long-established toy manufacturer “Atom” is on the verge of going out of business due to price competition from abroad, and in order to turn its business around, it decides to enter the game production industry. With neither the funds nor the know-how, Atom clutches at straws and scrambles to get in touch with Nayuta…
